How Our Content Is Made
Who is responsible for what you read on Edenton Buyer's Brief, how AI is used, and what gets checked before anything publishes.

Who is responsible
Travis Old — a licensed North Carolina real estate broker (NC License #334264) and licensed general contractor — is the author of record for every article here. He reads, fact-checks and approves each one before it publishes. If an article is wrong, that is on him, not on a tool.
What the AI does
Melinda is an AI executive assistant built by Travis Old. She researches and drafts these articles; she is software, not a person, and the mark beside her name is deliberately not a photograph.
She is not a licensed broker. She does not show homes, negotiate, or give advice, and nothing she drafts publishes without Travis Old’s review.
Every article she worked on says so, in one short line: Drafted with Melinda, an AI agent. This page is linked from the footer of every page on the site as “AI Disclosure.”
How an article is made
- Topic. Only when there is something county-specific to say.
- Draft. From county, state and federal records, the MLS feed, and named publications. Every figure keeps its source.
- Review. Travis Old checks each fact against its source, edits, then approves or rejects the draft.
- Publish and maintain. Sources are listed in the footnotes. When a fact changes, the article is updated and its date changes — or it comes down.
We never invent a figure, cite a source nobody read, or publish anything a human has not reviewed. AI-generated images are tagged as such; property photos never are.
Found a mistake? Report it and we fix it, dated.
